But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. – kjv
While I was away for a few weeks, I stayed away from Facebook and tried to avoid the news because I found myself going in too deep and getting upset about certain issues. I’m seeing vicious responses by people I wouldn’t otherwise believe would be capable of if I hadn’t witnessed it for myself.
What’s happening in my country can be depressing, but I know if I keep my mind on my friend Jesus, He will keep me in perfect peace (Isaiah 26:3). The last most publicized incident was involving three groups of people; MAGA Teens, a Native American and Hebrew-Israelites. I’ve really grown sick and tired of this media outlet saying this group was wrong and that media outlet saying that group was wrong. Here is my take on it; “THEY ALL WERE WRONG!” I know that sounds familiar, but believe that’s not my intent here.
The word humility comes to mind.
I woke up with this incident on my mind. I even commented on a friend’s comment that seemed to be one-sided as everybody’s opinion is these days. I commented with “The word humility comes to mind.”
The passage above came to mind during my morning prayer. “Every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust.” When we think of the word lust we think of lust as a sexual desire. Lust is also defined as a passionate desire for something: a lust for power, a lust to be correct and everybody
The compassion of people concerning the issues of this country drive them over the top with their comments. There are some pretty harmful things being said and most of it is baseless and out of being just plain mean.
All of the groups involved in this situation were driven by compassion to be heard. The Hebrew-Israelites were calling the MAGA Teens some pretty nasty names. The Native-American who said he was diffusing the situation, and a MAGA teen who said he was diffusing the situation. All of them appeared to be taken away by their compassion and it caused them to act out of a spirit of pride instead of humility.
God doesn’t like a prideful spirit.
We live in a “stand-your-ground” society and everybody refuses to yield and be humble so some viable solutions can be worked out through my friend Jesus. When we act out with such compassion that causes harm to our’s and others’ image, it’s called pride. And the fruit of pride is arrogance, strife, and personal agendas. And God doesn’t like a prideful spirit. (James 4:6)
What I saw in the clips was all involved were acting in a spirit of pride. There wasn’t any humility displayed on neither side. I pray this will get better for all of our sakes.
